Embellished bag straps have transformed the notion of “bag versatility” ever since the Fendi-born trend was conceived in the fashion world.

Over a year ago, Fendi’s ‘Strap You’ line created all the rage for all the right reasons. Bag straps had been an unexplored territory in fashion accessories until the concept of customization and reviving your handbags was introduced – what took us so long?!
I’ve absolutely loved this trend since Fendi debuted their statement straps in their Spring 2016 collection. Not so after, Valentino disclosed their spin on straps and there was no stopping.
A trend that started from high-end luxury brands rippled down to more affordable brands and mass-markets before you knew it.
While I’ve fancied this trend for over a year, I’ve been on the lookout for an embellished strap that would match my Michael Kors Selma Medium Messenger bag.
*Fendi-like extra luxe straps that cost over $1,000 was never an option to begin with – duh!
The one I ultimately decided to give in to was the Floral Embellished Leather Handbag Strap. Having seen and tried this strap during a random stroll around Ginza, Tokyo at the Michael Kors store, I’ve had my mind fixated on this since February. Ridiculously priced in store, it wasn’t until my sister brought to my attention their outlet sale happening online. So my sister very kindly treated me to this to match dear Selma – thanks sistah!

Having browsed a dozen over bag straps from various high street and economic brands the floral embellished one was a score! Versatile, statement and chic is how I would describe this strap. Having just worn a simple white tee and denim, the jazzy strap puts the whole outfit in place – it does all the talking!
It’s surprising how much a bag strap can transfigure a simple bag. As customization continues to reign over supreme, a bag strap is the key to reviving your everyday handbag.
This not so nascent trend has taken over the accessories market rapidly and who knew over the top straps was an accessory a bag needed!
Big shoutout to Sister Parikh for pepping up Selma and I <3
